Drone Strikes, Armed Robbery & Port Attacks Highlight Rising Risks

Maritime security threats are evolving at pace — and this week’s incidents underline just how critical proactive risk management has become for shipowners, fleet managers, and company security officers.

Between August 18–26, three major security events were reported across multiple regions, involving drone strikes, armed robbery, and targeted port attacks. These incidents reinforce the urgent need for enhanced BMP-MS compliance, vigilant watchkeeping, and effective vessel hardening strategies.
